How ECU tuning works on a diesel Renault Kangoo
Modern diesels are held back by conservative factory calibrations. A remap updates the fuel and boost maps stored in the ECU, which is why drivers notice stronger acceleration from low revs and less need to change down on hills or when loaded.
How the Renault Kangoo 1.9 DTI 84 compares
Among the 5 diesel Kangoo engines we have figures for, the 1.9 DTI 84 ranks 1st for power gain, 1 bhp above the Kangoo diesel average of 26 bhp.
Across our whole catalogue the average diesel remap adds 34 bhp and 73 Nm, so this engine's 27 bhp and 60 Nm sits below that benchmark.
